  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350˚F (175°C) and butter the sides of two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Mix the warm coffee, vinegar, vanilla, and oil in a separate bowl.
  4. Combine the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, whisking gently until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 35 minutes.
  6. Let the cakes rest for 15 minutes in the pans, then cool completely on a wire rack.
  7. Cream the cream cheese and butter in an electric mixer until light and creamy.
  8. Add the sifted powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing until smooth.
  9. Spread one-third of the frosting on the first cake layer, then place the second layer on top, frosting the top and sides of the cake.
  10. Serve and enjoy!
