Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Flaked sea salt for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream the softened butter with granulated sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in another bowl. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips with a spatula.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 9 to 12 minutes until edges are golden brown and centers are slightly underdone.
  8. Sprinkle with flaked sea salt if desired and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
