Description

A vibrant and flavorful appetizer that captures the essence of Colombia’s coastal regions with fresh shrimp and tangy sauces.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound medium-sized shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 cup lime juice
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • Hot sauce, to taste
  • Optional: 1 avocado, diced
  • Optional: 1 mango, diced
  • Optional: 1 cucumber, diced

Instructions

  1. Prepare the shrimp by cleaning and deveining them.
  2. Cook the shrimp in boiling salted water for 2-3 minutes until pink and opaque.
  3. Chop the vegetables (onion and cilantro) and optional ingredients (if using).
  4. Combine the cooked shrimp, chopped onion, cilantro, and any optional ingredients in a mixing bowl.
  5. Prepare the sauce by whisking together the lime juice, ketchup, and hot sauce in a separate bowl.
  6. Mix the sauce with the shrimp mixture until evenly coated; let sit for 10-15 minutes.
  7. Serve in individual glasses or bowls, garnished with cilantro or lime wedges.

Notes

For added flavor, consider marinating the shrimp in lime juice for a ceviche-style twist. Customize with tropical fruits for enhanced taste.
