Description

A nostalgic dessert that captures the flavors of an orange creamsicle in a moist cake and airy mousse, finished with a citrus glaze and crunchy almonds.


Ingredients

  • 1 box Vanilla Cake Mix
  • 3 Large Eggs
  • 1/2 cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1 cup Orange Juice
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream
  • 1 package Orange Gelatin
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 cup Chopped Almonds
  • 1/4 cup Citrus Glaze

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a springform pan.
  2. Combine the cake mix, eggs, oil, and orange juice in a mixing bowl.
  3. Whisk until smooth, then pour into the pan and bake according to the mix instructions.
  4. Cool the cake completely on a wire rack.
  5. Beat the heavy cream in a separate bowl until soft peaks form.
  6. Dissolve the gelatin in hot water and mix in the powdered sugar and vanilla.
  7. Fold the gelatin mixture into the whipped cream until fully combined.
  8. Pour the mousse over the cooled cake layer in the springform pan.
  9. Chill for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
  10. Run a knife around the pan, release the side, and garnish with glaze and almonds.
  11. Slice with a warm knife and serve.

Notes

For a better flavor, toast the chopped almonds before use. Chilling your equipment helps whip cream more efficiently.
