A delicious combination of classic Sloppy Joes and crispy tater tots, perfect for a quick family meal.
Ingredients

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 green pepper, diced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- ¾ cup ketchup
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tsp mustard
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp pepper
- ½ tsp smoked paprika (optional)
- ¼ tsp chili flakes (optional)
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 bag tater tots
- Parsley for garnish (optional)
- 1 tbsp olive oil or butter (for sautéing)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sauté the onion and green pepper for 3-4 minutes until softened.
- Add garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
- Include ground beef, breaking it apart and cooking until no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Stir in salt, pepper, smoked paprika (if using), ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and chili flakes (if using). Simmer for 3-5 minutes.
- Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheese over the meat mixture. Layer tater tots on top in an even layer and add the remaining cheese.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until tater tots are golden and cheese is melted.
- Let rest for 5 minutes, then garnish with parsley and serve hot.
Notes
This dish can be served directly from the skillet. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
