Description

A delightful dessert combining rich chocolate and fresh strawberries for the perfect balance of flavors and textures.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz semisweet chocolate, finely chopped (226 g)
  • 1/2 cup whole milk (120 ml)
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream, divided (480 ml)
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar (40 g)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced (300 g)
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (12 g)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice (5 ml)
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream (240 ml) for topping
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (30 g) for topping
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for topping
  • 6 whole fresh strawberries for topping
  • 1/3 cup crushed graham crackers or chocolate cookie crumbs (35 g), optional

Instructions

  1. Combine sliced strawberries, granulated sugar, and lemon juice in a bowl. Toss gently and let sit for 15-20 minutes until glossy and juicy.
  2. Place chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl. Heat milk until steaming but not boiling, then pour over the chocolate. Let sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth and glossy. Add salt and cool until barely lukewarm.
  3. Whip 2 cups heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla in a chilled mixing bowl until medium peaks form.
  4. Fold one-third of the whipped cream into the cooled chocolate mixture, then fold in the remaining cream in two additions.
  5. Spoon a layer of chocolate mousse into the bottom of serving glasses, followed by a layer of sliced strawberries. Top with more mousse and chill for at least 120 minutes.
  6. Whip remaining heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until firm peaks form. Pipe or spoon whipped cream over each dessert and top with a whole strawberry and optional cookie crumbs. Serve well chilled.

Notes

For a richer taste, use high-quality chocolate. Chill your mixing bowl and beaters for better whipping results.
