Ingredients

  • 4 large egg whites
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Green food coloring
  • Sprinkles (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Beat the egg whites in a clean bowl until frothy.
  3. Add the cream of tartar and continue to beat until soft peaks form.
  4. Gradually add the sugar, one tablespoon at a time, while beating until stiff, glossy peaks form.
  5. Mix in the vanilla extract and a few drops of green food coloring until you reach your desired shade.
  6. Transfer the meringue to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
  7. Pipe meringue into tree shapes onto the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Sprinkle with decorations.
  9. Bake for about 90 to 120 minutes or until the meringues are dry and can be easily lifted off the paper.
  10. Turn off the oven and leave the meringues inside to cool completely.

Notes

Store meringues in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to a week. Avoid refrigerating them.
