- 400 grams fresh red currants
- 200 grams sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 pinch salt
Instructions
- Wash the currants thoroughly under cold water, removing any stems and leaves.
- Measure 400 grams of red currants and combine them with 200 grams of sugar in a large bowl.
- Let the mixture sit for about 30 minutes to allow the currants to release their juices.
- Transfer the currant mixture to a saucepan and add the lemon juice and salt.
- Cook on medium heat, stirring occasionally until it comes to a gentle boil.
- Reduce heat and allow it to simmer for about 20 minutes until it thickens.
- Remove from heat and strain through a fine sieve to separate solids from liquid.
- Pour the sauce into sterilized jars and seal them while still hot.
