Description
A cool and creamy orange-flavored pie that’s perfect for hot summer days, reminiscent of childhood ice cream treats.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 graham cracker crust (store bought or homemade)
- 1 small box (about 3 ounces) orange flavored gelatin
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup cold water or ice water
- 1 small box instant vanilla pudding mix
- 1 tub (8 ounces) whipped topping (like Cool Whip, thawed)
- Optional: orange zest, a little vanilla, mandarin oranges for garnish
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, stir the orange gelatin into boiling water until it fully dissolves.
- Stir in cold water and let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes to cool down.
- Whisk in the instant vanilla pudding mix until thickened.
- Let that bowl sit for a few minutes until it is thickened but still stirrable, then fold in the whipped topping gently.
- Spoon the filling into the graham crust and smooth the top.
- Pop it in the fridge for at least 4 hours, overnight for best results.
- Slice and serve cold, garnishing with orange zest or whipped topping if desired.
Notes
Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days. For firmer slices, freeze for 1-2 hours before serving.
