Description

A delightful cake that combines the refreshing zest of oranges with creamy sweetness, reminiscent of a classic orange creamsicle.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tbsp fresh orange juice
  • 1 tsp orange zest
  • Orange slices
  • Fresh mint leaves
  • Extra whipped cream swirls

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, which should take about 4 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Next, mix in the milk, orange juice, orange zest, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the mixture and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 32–38 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cake to cool completely before frosting it.
  9. To make the whipped cream frosting, beat the cream cheese until smooth, then add the powdered sugar and vanilla. Slowly stream in the heavy cream and whip until fluffy peaks form.
  10. Spread the frosting generously over the cooled cake.
  11. In a separate bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, orange juice, and zest until smooth, then drizzle over the frosted cake for an extra glossy finish.
  12. Decorate with whipped cream swirls, orange slices, and fresh mint leaves. Chill before serving to enhance the creamy texture and refreshing citrus flavor.

Notes

Use fresh oranges for juice and zest to capture the best flavor. Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for a smooth batter. Frost just before serving for the freshest taste.
