Delightful twist on the classic cheeseburger featuring the savory-sweet flavors of beef, bacon, and maple syrup in a crispy quesadilla form.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 6 slices bacon
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese (optional)
  • 12 tablespoons real maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard or burger sauce (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup (optional)
  • Dill pickle slices (optional)
  • Sliced tomatoes (optional)
  • Shredded lettuce (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon strips over medium heat until crispy. Drain on paper towels and crumble once cool. Set aside.
  2. Add ground beef to the same skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook for 6–8 minutes until fully browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and maple syrup. Cook for another 2 minutes.
  4. Lay a flour tortilla on a flat surface. On one half of the tortilla, sprinkle a layer of cheddar and mozzarella. Add ¼ of the beef mixture, crumbled bacon, and optional ingredients. Add another layer of cheese and fold.
  5. Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat with a bit of butter. Place a folded quesadilla in the skillet and press gently. Cook for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  6. Remove from the skillet, let rest for 1–2 minutes, and cut into wedges.
