Ingredients

- 2 cups short-grain white rice
- 1 lb 80/20 ground beef
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp flour
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- Garlic powder (optional)
Instructions
- Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- Combine the rinsed rice with water in a pot, bring to a boil, then cover and reduce heat to simmer for 15 minutes.
- Mix the ground beef with salt, pepper, and optional garlic powder. Form into 4 patties.
- Cook the patties in a skillet over medium-high heat for 4-5 minutes per side.
- In the same skillet, melt butter and whisk in flour to make a roux for 2-3 minutes.
- Whisk in beef broth gradually, stirring until thickened for about 5-7 minutes.
- Fry the eggs sunny-side up in a non-stick pan for 3-4 minutes.
- Assemble by placing rice on a plate, topping with a patty, a fried egg, and pouring gravy over everything.
Notes
Feel free to substitute ground turkey for a leaner patty or experiment with different rice varieties.
