Description

A classic Italian-American dish featuring crispy breaded chicken topped with marinara sauce and melted cheese.


Ingredients

  • 2 skinless, boneless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • Olive oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chicken by pounding it to 1/2-inch thickness and seasoning with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  2. Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan cheese.
  3. Coat each chicken breast in flour, dip in egg, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture.
  4. Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat and pan-fry the chicken for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  5. Transfer the fried chicken to a baking sheet and top with marinara sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

For a healthier version, you can bake instead of fry, or use an air fryer.
