  • ½ cup Unsalted Butter (softened)
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 3 tablespoons Unsweetened Cocoa Powder (sifted)
  • ½ cup All-Purpose Flour (sifted)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • A Pinch of Salt (optional)
  • Vanilla Ice Cream (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Unroll the pie crust and press it into a 9-inch pie plate, crimping or fluting the edges.
  3. Combine the softened butter and granulated sugar in a mixing bowl and beat until fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract and optional salt until incorporated.
  6. Sift the cocoa powder and flour into the bowl, then fold them into the wet mixture until smooth.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pie crust, smoothing the top.
  8. Bake in the center of the oven for 30 to 35 minutes until a dry crust forms on top.
  9. Cool for 10 minutes before slicing into wedges.
  10. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Use a fine-mesh sieve to ensure no lumps in cocoa and flour. Store leftovers at room temperature for up to 3 days.
