- 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (divided into 2 cups for melting and 1 cup for folding)
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- Hot fudge sauce, vanilla ice cream, or whipped cream (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prep a 9-inch pie plate or a springform pan by generously coating it with butter or nonstick spray.
- Melt in a microwave-safe bowl, combine the butter and the first 2 cups of chocolate chips, heating in 30-second intervals until smooth.
- Temper the melted chocolate and let it cool slightly before use.
- Whip the eggs, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract together until thick and fluffy, approximately 3 minutes.
- Lower the mixer speed and gradually add the melted chocolate mixture to the whipped eggs until just combined.
- Fold in the flour, baking powder, and salt gently, stopping as soon as the flour streaks disappear.
- Incorporate the remaining 1 cup of chocolate chips by gently folding them into the mixture.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the surface.
- Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, until the edges are set with a slight jiggle in the center.
- Cool completely on a wire rack before serving.
