Description

Ingredients

  • 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (divided into 2 cups for melting and 1 cup for folding)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • Hot fudge sauce, vanilla ice cream, or whipped cream (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prep a 9-inch pie plate or a springform pan by generously coating it with butter or nonstick spray.
  3. Melt in a microwave-safe bowl, combine the butter and the first 2 cups of chocolate chips, heating in 30-second intervals until smooth.
  4. Temper the melted chocolate and let it cool slightly before use.
  5. Whip the eggs, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract together until thick and fluffy, approximately 3 minutes.
  6. Lower the mixer speed and gradually add the melted chocolate mixture to the whipped eggs until just combined.
  7. Fold in the flour, baking powder, and salt gently, stopping as soon as the flour streaks disappear.
  8. Incorporate the remaining 1 cup of chocolate chips by gently folding them into the mixture.
  9. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the surface.
  10. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, until the edges are set with a slight jiggle in the center.
  11. Cool completely on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. To restore the molten texture, microwave individual slices for 15 to 20 seconds.
