- 1 cup (170g) Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
- 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter
- 2 Large Eggs
- ¾ cup (150g) Granulated Sugar
- ¼ cup (50g) Light Brown Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- ½ cup (65g) All-Purpose Flour
- ¼ cup (25g) Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
- ½ teaspoon Baking Powder
- ¼ teaspoon Fine Salt
- ½ cup (90g) Additional Chocolate Chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Combine the 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips and 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in short bursts until melted and smooth.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the 2 room-temperature eggs, ¾ cup of granulated sugar, and ¼ cup of brown sugar. Beat on high speed for 3 to 4 minutes.
- Add the 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and mix briefly.
- Slowly stream the melted chocolate mixture into the whipped eggs while stirring.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the ½ cup of flour, ¼ cup of cocoa powder, ½ teaspoon of baking powder, and ¼ teaspoon of salt.
- Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Add the remaining ½ cup of chocolate chips and gently fold in.
- Drop uniform mounds of batter on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until the tops are shiny and cracked, with soft centers.
- Let the cookies rest on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
