- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup eggnog
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups eggnog-flavored buttercream frosting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the eggnog, mixing until combined.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt in another bowl.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow cakes to cool in pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.
- Once cool, frost the cakes with eggnog-flavored buttercream and serve.
Notes
Garnish with extra ground nutmeg or cinnamon on top for decoration. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 5-7 days.
