- 1 cup dark chocolate chips

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Mix together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
- Cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy in another bowl.
- Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and peppermint extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the dark chocolate chips.
- Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are set but the centers remain chewy.
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle with crushed peppermint candy canes while still warm.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
