These warm apple fritters are baked instead of fried, filled with tender apples, cinnamon, and finished with a sweet glaze.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large apples, peeled and diced
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ⅓ cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- A small splash of milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Mix the dry ingredients by whisking together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt in a medium bowl.
- Prepare the wet ingredients in a separate bowl by combining the milk, egg, and vanilla extract, whisking until smooth.
- Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
- Fold in the peeled and diced apples until evenly distributed.
- Scoop the batter onto the parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving space between each fritter.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until golden and cooked through.
- Make the glaze by mixing powdered sugar with a small splash of milk in a bowl until smooth.
- Glaze the warm fritters by drizzling the glaze over them and serve immediately.
Notes
For the best finish, glaze while the fritters are warm. Enjoy them with coffee or tea.
