Description

A delightful twist on a classic appetizer with crispy edges and a creamy crab filling, perfect for gatherings or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup crab meat (fresh, canned, or imitation), finely chopped
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1214 egg roll wrappers (standard size)
  • 1 beaten egg (for sealing)
  • Oil for frying
  • ½ cup sweet chili sauce (or ¼ cup sweet and sour sauce mixed with 2 tablespoons soy sauce)

Instructions

  1. Make the filling. In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Stir in crab meat, green onions, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, salt, pepper, and ginger until everything is creamy and evenly blended.
  2. Assemble the wrappers. Lay an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface with a corner pointing towards you. Place 2–3 tablespoons of filling in the center. Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the left and right corners, and roll tightly towards the top. Seal with beaten egg. Repeat with the remaining wrappers.
  3. Fry. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry the egg rolls in small batches for 3–4 minutes per side, until they are golden brown. Drain them on paper towels.
  4. Serve. Serve hot with your choice of dipping sauces. For variations, you can air fry at 375°F for 10–12 minutes, bake at 400°F for 15–20 minutes, or even add some spice or cheese to the filling for an extra kick!

Notes

Ensure oil is hot enough before frying for crispy egg rolls. Don’t overfill the wrappers.
