Ingredients

- 1 cup brewed coffee, cooled
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 cup mascarpone cheese
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 4 oz dark chocolate, melted
- 1/2 cup egg whites (about 4 eggs)
- 1/4 tsp cream of tartar
- 1/2 cup sugar for meringue
- 1 package of ladyfingers or sponge cake (optional for layering)
Instructions
- Begin by whipping the heavy cream with 3 tablespoons of sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
- In a separate bowl, blend the mascarpone cheese with the cooled coffee until smooth.
- Fold in the whipped cream mixture and the melted chocolate, then set aside.
- In another bowl, beat the egg whites with the cream of tartar until soft peaks form.
- Gradually add 1/2 cup of sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks develop.
- Carefully fold the meringue into the coffee blend until fully incorporated, maintaining the airy texture.
- If you choose to use ladyfingers or sponge cake, layer them at the bottom of your serving dish.
- Pour the mousse over the cake layer and smooth the top for an even finish.
- Refrigerate the dessert for at least 240 minutes or until it is fully set.
- Serve chilled and enjoy the deliciousness.
Notes
Garnish with cocoa powder or chocolate shavings. Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for extra creaminess.
