A delightful dessert combining rich coffee and chocolate flavors with a light, airy texture.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup brewed coffee, cooled
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 oz dark chocolate, melted
  • 1/2 cup egg whites (about 4 eggs)
  • 1/4 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1/2 cup sugar for meringue
  • 1 package of ladyfingers or sponge cake (optional for layering)

Instructions

  1. Begin by whipping the heavy cream with 3 tablespoons of sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
  2. In a separate bowl, blend the mascarpone cheese with the cooled coffee until smooth.
  3. Fold in the whipped cream mixture and the melted chocolate, then set aside.
  4. In another bowl, beat the egg whites with the cream of tartar until soft peaks form.
  5. Gradually add 1/2 cup of sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks develop.
  6. Carefully fold the meringue into the coffee blend until fully incorporated, maintaining the airy texture.
  7. If you choose to use ladyfingers or sponge cake, layer them at the bottom of your serving dish.
  8. Pour the mousse over the cake layer and smooth the top for an even finish.
  9. Refrigerate the dessert for at least 240 minutes or until it is fully set.
  10. Serve chilled and enjoy the deliciousness.

Notes

Garnish with cocoa powder or chocolate shavings. Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for extra creaminess.
