- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 4 large egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
- Optional: Chocolate shavings, Fresh strawberries or raspberries, Chopped hazelnuts or almonds, Cocoa powder for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Combine the chocolate cookie crumbs, granulated sugar, and melted butter until the mixture resembles wet sand.
- Press the mixture firmly into the bottom and sides of a tart pan. Bake for approximately 10 minutes, then allow it to cool completely.
- Heat the milk and cream in a saucepan until warm but not boiling. In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks until smooth and pale.
- Gradually pour the warm dairy mixture into the egg mixture while whisking continuously. Return everything to the saucepan and cook over medium heat while stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and butter.
- Pour the finished custard into the cooled crust and refrigerate for at least one hour to set.
- Heat the heavy cream until steaming but not boiling. Pour it over the chocolate chips and butter. Allow it to sit undisturbed for one minute before stirring.
- Pour the ganache over the chilled custard layer and spread evenly with a spatula. Refrigerate the tart for at least two additional hours until fully set.
Notes
