Description

A dreamy dessert that combines rich chocolate layers, fresh strawberries, and a luscious ganache, perfect for special occasions or indulgent treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups unsalted butter, softened (for buttercream)
  • 5 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream (for buttercream)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract (for buttercream)
  • Pinch of salt (for buttercream)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (for ganache)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (for ganache)
  • Fresh strawberries (for topping)
  • Peach slices or mango slices (for topping)
  • Chocolate curls or chocolate pieces (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease and line two 9-inch cake pans with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Beat butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla.
  4. Alternate adding the dry ingredients with milk and sour cream until the batter is smooth and creamy.
  5. Divide the batter evenly into the cake pans and bake for 28–32 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let the cakes cool completely before frosting.
  7. For the buttercream, beat butter until fluffy. Gradually add powdered sugar, cream, vanilla, and salt until smooth and thick.
  8. Frost the cake generously and smooth the sides. Use a piping tip to create bakery-style swirls around the edges.
  9. For the ganache, heat heavy cream until steaming and pour over chocolate chips. Stir until glossy and smooth.
  10. Pour the chocolate ganache onto the center of the cake and gently spread outward to create the drip effect.
  11. Decorate with fresh strawberries, fruit slices, and chocolate pieces for an elegant finish.
  12. Chill the cake for 20 minutes before slicing for clean layers.

Notes

For best taste, allow the cake to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before serving.
