Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup hot coffee
- 1 1/2 cups unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- Fresh strawberries
- Ferrero Rocher chocolates
- Chocolate curls or crushed hazelnuts
- White chocolate pearls or sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease and line two 8-inch cake pans with parchment paper.
- Whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
- Add the eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth. Slowly stir in the hot coffee, which will give your cake its ultra-moist texture.
- Divide the batter evenly between the cake pans and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs. Allow the chocolate cake layers to cool completely before decorating.
- Beat the butter until creamy and fluffy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, then mix in heavy cream, vanilla, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
- Frost the cake with a layer of chocolate frosting around the sides and top.
- Heat the heavy cream until steaming and pour it over the chocolate chips. Stir until silky and glossy for the ganache.
- Pour the ganache over the top of the cake, gently pushing small amounts over the edges to create drips.
- Pipe thick frosting swirls across the top and decorate with fresh strawberries, Ferrero Rocher chocolates, chocolate curls, and sprinkles.
- Chill the cake for at least 20 minutes before slicing to ensure a clean presentation.
