Description

Indulge in a rich Chocolate Drip Cake featuring a silky ganache that drips dramatically over the sides, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot coffee
  • 1 1/2 cups unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Fresh strawberries
  • Ferrero Rocher chocolates
  • Chocolate curls or crushed hazelnuts
  • White chocolate pearls or sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease and line two 8-inch cake pans with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Add the eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth. Slowly stir in the hot coffee, which will give your cake its ultra-moist texture.
  4. Divide the batter evenly between the cake pans and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs. Allow the chocolate cake layers to cool completely before decorating.
  5. Beat the butter until creamy and fluffy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, then mix in heavy cream, vanilla, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
  6. Frost the cake with a layer of chocolate frosting around the sides and top.
  7. Heat the heavy cream until steaming and pour it over the chocolate chips. Stir until silky and glossy for the ganache.
  8. Pour the ganache over the top of the cake, gently pushing small amounts over the edges to create drips.
  9. Pipe thick frosting swirls across the top and decorate with fresh strawberries, Ferrero Rocher chocolates, chocolate curls, and sprinkles.
  10. Chill the cake for at least 20 minutes before slicing to ensure a clean presentation.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. To keep them longer, refrigerate for up to a week and let come to room temperature before serving.
