- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg

- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 8 oz mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 4 hoagie rolls
- Fresh basil, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Mix until well combined.
- Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
- Cook the meatballs in a skillet over medium heat until browned on all sides.
- Add the marinara sauce to the skillet and simmer for 10-15 minutes until the meatballs are cooked through.
- Slice the hoagie rolls and place them on a baking sheet.
- Spoon meatballs and sauce into each roll, then top with shredded mozzarella.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh basil if desired, and serve warm.
Notes
Be careful not to overmix the meatball mixture to avoid tough meatballs. Experiment with different cheeses for varied flavors and add red pepper flakes for heat if desired.
