A delightful dessert that layers rich chocolate cake with luscious cherries and creamy pudding, perfect for any gathering.

- One 9×13 chocolate cake or brownie, baked
- 30 ounces cherry pie filling
- 4 ounces kirsch or cherry liqueur (or cherry juice for non-alcoholic version)
- 2 boxes chocolate pudding (90 grams each)
- 1½ cups cold heavy whipping cream
- 2–4 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- Fresh cherries (for garnishing)
- Shaved chocolate (for garnishing)
- Chocolate sprinkles (for garnishing)
- Icing sugar or cocoa powder (for dusting)
Instructions
- Bake the chocolate cake according to the package directions. Cool completely and cut into 1” cubes.
- Prepare the pudding according to package instructions and allow to cool.
- Combine heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract in a bowl. Mix until stiff peaks form.
- Assemble by placing half of the cake cubes in a trifle bowl, pressing down slightly. Drizzle half of the kirsch if using, followed by half of the pudding, half of the cherries, and half of the whipped cream. Repeat layers.
- Chill in the fridge for 1-4 hours or overnight. Garnish before serving.
Notes
Serve in individual glasses for elegance or in a large trifle dish for a communal style. Cover and refrigerate leftovers for 2-3 days.
