Description

Ingredients

  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup white granulated sugar (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. Whisk together egg yolks and sugar until pale and creamy.
  3. Heat heavy cream in a saucepan until just simmering.
  4. Pour the hot cream slowly into the egg mixture, whisking continuously.
  5. Add vanilla extract and mix well.
  6. Strain the mixture into ramekins.
  7. Bake in a water bath for about 30-35 minutes, until set but not firm.
  8. Cool the ramekins and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  9. Sprinkle an even layer of sugar on top and caramelize with a blowtorch until golden brown.
  10. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

For best results, use white granulated sugar for the topping to achieve a perfect caramelized crust.
