Ingredients

- 1 cup shredded chicken
- 1/2 cup chicken broth (low-sodium)
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 10 corn husks (soaked in warm water)
- Spices such as cumin and chili powder
Instructions
- Prepare the corn husks by soaking them in warm water to soften.
- Mix masa harina, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- Add olive oil and chicken broth, then stir until a dough forms.
- Spread a portion of the masa dough onto the corn husk.
- Add a spoonful of shredded chicken and spices into the center.
- Fold the husk and masa over the filling, then tuck the ends.
- Steam the tamales upright in a steamer for about 1 hour.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving and enjoy!
Notes
For healthier options, consider using lean chicken breast instead of darker cuts and substitute lard with olive oil.
