This miso-marinated Black Cod recipe is a crowd favorite for its perfect balance of savory and sweet flavors. Tender, flaky fish with a crispy caramelized glaze—perfect for a restaurant-quality meal at home!

 


Ingredients

  • 4 Black Cod filets (6 to 7 oz each)
  • ¼ cup sake
  • ¼ cup mirin
  • ⅔ cup white miso paste
  • ⅓ cup sugar
  • Scallions and sesame seeds for garnish

 


Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, simmer the sake and mirin on medium heat.
  2. Add the miso paste and sugar, whisking until the sugar dissolves. Let cool.
  3. Marinate the Black Cod in the mixture, covering and refrigerating for 24-48 hours.
  4. Preheat your broiler. Wipe off excess marinade and broil the filets for 10-12 minutes, until golden and caramelized.
  5. Garnish with scallions and sesame seeds before serving.
